In 2013, GamePro included Final Fantasy VII in its "20 most innovative games ever made" list. They stated described it as "a classic that touched an entire genre of gaming" and "an entire generation of gamers.

Many areas feature treasure chests and areas that are not safe zones feature random encounters with enemies. Newly introduced in the game, players can traverse the environment in ways beyond walking, often involving climbing ladders or jumping across gaps.

The Remake project began when Final Fantasy producer Shinji Hashimoto broached the subject to Kitase, Nojima, and Nomura. All three were reaching a stage of life that they defined as "that age": all felt that if they waited much longer, they might not be alive to or would be too old to develop a remake, and passing the project on to a new generation did not feel right.

Final Fantasy VII is a relic of its time, but that doesn’t mean it’s to be respected any less; if you can look past the obviously antiquated elements, this is a well-paced, engaging RPG that’s still fun to play today – it’s more than worthy of your time.

Final Fantasy VII Remake was announced in 2015 following years of speculation. Several key staff members from the original game returned for the title, including character designer and original story writer Tetsuya Nomura as director, director and writer Yoshinori Kitase as producer, writer and event planner Kazushige Nojima as story and scenario writer, event planner Motomu Toriyama as a co-director, and composer Nobuo Uematsu who returned to write the main theme. Events send Cloud and his allies in pursuit of Sephiroth, a superhuman who seeks to wound the planet and harness its healing power to be reborn as a god. During their journey, Cloud bonds with his party members, including Aerith Gainsborough, who holds the secret to saving their world.

This version was discarded during early testing, as the 2000 polygons needed to render the Behemoth monster placed excessive strain on the Nintendo 64 hardware, causing a low frame rate.[37] It would have required an estimated thirty 64DD discs to run Final Fantasy VII properly with the data compression methods of the day.[42] Faced with both technical and economic issues on Nintendo's current hardware, and impressed by the increased storage capacity of CD-ROM when compared to the Nintendo final fantasy 7 remake 64 cartridge, Square shifted development of Final Fantasy VII, and all other planned projects, onto the PlayStation.[37] The decision stunned the Japanese videogame industry; Square had been so close to Nintendo that when an executive joined Square in 1995, he was told that working for the company was the same as working for Nintendo. Nintendo sold its substantial ownership stake in Square and cut off communications for five years.[43]

I don't think this game has age well. Pre rendered background makes paths difficult to know which of them are accessible. Played for 4 hours and dropped it

Before dying, the Weapon fires out energy blasts into the Shinra Building, seemingly killing Rufus and creating a power vacuum at the top of his organization. Midgar falls into chaos. Cait Sith pleads for Cloud and his friends' help, and ends up revealing his true identity as a puppet controlled by Reeve Tuesti, a Shinra executive in charge of Midgar.

i'm not so crazy bout this game, this is the first part that I went through in the whole series, and it turned out to be a remake of a very old game (the game is very good as a remake), but whatever one may say, this is an old game design, where the story is not crazy, fighting the system got boring by the half of the game (by the way, in my understanding the game is very long), and at the same time the side quests are terrible, but the game definitely has its perks.

This is a very worthy version of Final Fantasy VII as it originally appeared and still worth playing today. If the few bugs are patched out it’s an even better deal. Whether you want to play it on the Switch with its unique hardware abilities or pay less on a different platform is up to you but I’m glad we even have these options.

In one of the coolest RPGs of the year, former Blizzard and Epic vets use MMO and D&D ideas to tell stories meant to be made and played with friends like Among Us
